Day Ten

Finally the day ten, the last day of this course.  Today’s lecture was mostly about reviewing the topic which we cover during this course.  However I would like to write about the course as a summery in my last weblog.

For me this course was so different, the first thing is, as I mentioned before, i am from deferent background and different school so everything was a little bit new for me, especially the subject.  And the second thing, which was a best thing about this course, was the atmosphere of the class, because it was a summer course and we had every day lecture, I had more concentrate on each topic, and because of the few number of students, the lecture was more us full for me.

Some topics in this course were so interesting and in general gave me a new view to some things which I used them maybe every day.  Sometimes i just think by myself to change my degree to art.

At the end I would like to say many thank to Mr. Adam Muir le convener course, and all my classmates.

Day Nine – Part 2

The speed of developing technology is getting more and more these days, something like GPS (global positioning system) or high-tech mobile phones was funny or unbelievable about 20 years ago.  That is to say anything, which is funny or hard to believe, can be the happen or create in future.

But the obvious thing is, the world is going to be digitalised.  Some theory like virtual life will be more popular and people maybe spend most of their time to live in virtual world.  Like what happen in second life, maybe people work at their home in front of their computer.

I heard that the next generation of airplanes doesn’t need pilot, they control from earth by computer.  Also the device is created to transfer the smell by internet.

However, the effect of this life is on social life of people.  The contact of people will be less and social problems will be increased.

10 years later, there will be more open source software, but they will not compatible with some systems!!!  And still you need to pay for electricity and internet to have access to them.

Also in about 10 years later, US army will create the device to find out what is in people’s brain, to fight with terrorist attack.  Also every solid thing more than 1 kg cannot be taken to the airplane.

Day Nine

Utopia and dystopia was tow terms which was discuses in today’s lecture.  By definition, the utopia is a place which everything is perfect, and according to our subject, the place which human and technology are in harmony.  There are lots of theories about utopia and utopia in cyberspace, like when we are using the internet and our mind our inside the thing we doing and our body is relaxed on chair.  But is it a real utopia?

The first part of the today’s lecture was about the old generation and new generation of communication technology.  The interesting thing is the culture of using that technology, for example telephone is the most popular technology that everyone uses because it is easy to use and economy.  Most of the people preferring to using the telephone rather than massaging or chatting or other form of communication technologies, so the new generation of technology try to simulate the telephone for example on internet, because people are use to it.

In addition the new technologies are taking the life toward the utopia which is created by them.  But the main thing is there are many disadvantage regarding to this kind of utopia.  First thing what happen when the technology is not available, for example, there is no electricity to use the computer?  And tother and most important thing is who is controlling this utopia?  Hackers? Or politicians who are afraid of their shadow and try to check everything?

That is to say maybe the utopia for some people is a kind of dystopia for others.  Basically, utopia is kind of virtual life, which was discussed in previous lectures and it try to make the perfect thing and perfect situations by using the new technologies.  However at the end it is not real.  Maybe it would be better if people put their energy and knowledge to make the real life better rather than virtual life!

Day Eight – Part 2

As a today’s tutorial task, I would like to tell about old generation of media and news compare to new generation of media.  By developing the technology, especially communication technology, the form of media and news industries are changed.  You do not need to go to news agency to by a newspaper, by clicking few words on keyboard thousand of different news will appear on your monitor. 

However, by increasing the number of people who are addicted to the internet, still some people prefer to by the newspaper, or waiting for the radio news, or using the media traditionally.

One of the negative points of using the internet, as a new communication technology, to follow the news is the huge rage of unnecessary information and advertises which are take your time and take your brain and idea to the other thing rather than your goal.  For example when you want to read the head line of news, there are massive news about the Hollywood actors and their privet life, or rugby! 

Also the other negative point, according to my own experience, is most of the time; you find the information which “someone” Thinks is good for you, not the real truth. In other word, they try to washing our brains and give you a view that they need, not what really happen.  They not give you the information and let you to think and analyse yourself. 

And because of this reason there are so many things that everyone believes it is bad but when you experience yourself you see it is good.  The good example, which is happen for me, there are so many beautiful place, which everyone afraid to go, because always there is a bad news about it for political reason, but when I ask someone who has travel to that area I found out that is the best option for holyday.
